Flora Richards gives her feedback on ‘54321’ #Filmmaking4Educators @AldenhamSchool

On Monday 20 April 2015, teachers from secondary and primary schools in Hertfordshire and Harrow gathered in the Apthorp Room to learn tips and tricks for filmmaking with students. As an Into Film Ambassador I organised a session which was led by Sophie Burrows, using the excellent training resources from Into Film (the education charity which supports Aldenham Film Club), staff had a crash course in Film Studies, including Character, Story-boarding and Camera Angles, , before taking part in a super speedy ‘54321’ short filmmaking challenge! The results can be seen here on the Aldenham Film Club Vimeo page.

We were also treated to some truly fantastic tips and tricks from fellow Into Film Ambassador, Simon Pile, and Assistant Head at Anson Primary School in Brent. His experience and skills impressed and inspired us all to be better filmmakers and showed us what is possible with the right support and scaffolding. See the brilliant work Simon and his students have created here.

What emerged from the evening was a real thirst and passion for filmmaking among this group of teachers who will be following up their interest through forming a network of local Filmmaking Educators.

3Ss and 3Cs group workThanks, as always, go to our excellent student guides and helpers, to Diane Lovegrove and the Catering staff, Sally Ridley, Heather Sherman, Ann Saffery and Phil Wright who provided vital support for the event.
