Motivation: What we learned from hosting the IAPS training day

IAPS logoThe training day for the IAPS 1N District Heads (6th Nov 2014) centred on Motivation. Mark Turner, Managing Director of Motivational Maps Education Ltd, challenged the Heads with questions about what motivates the staff within our schools? He asked us how well we know each individual and how they interact with colleagues to create the perfect team? By mapping the motivational characteristics of each member of our SMTs we can better shape our school’s futures. I look forward to hearing from colleagues in the near future about how well this has worked in their schools.
Andrew Hammond, Lead Author ofthe Independent Curriculum (IC Programmes for Learning), published by Galore Park Publishing, then challenged us with questions about how creative our curricula are and within this how motivational the children find their school days? IAPS Prep Schools are always inspirational and creative in their approaches to aspects of the written and un-written curricula, but there are always innovations to be considered and alternative avenues to explore.
Hosting this training day was a first for Aldenham Prep and we felt it was successful as both a marketing exercise and from the logistics of the day going so well.
We left the day, after a superb dinner, thoroughly inspired and truly motivated!
