The power of collaborative learning

#TMAld A great success!

Nicola McEwan writes: Our TeachMeet was a great success! Click here for the official write up on our school website.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to the Teach Meet on Friday, the first of many I hope. To those colleagues who kindly offered to present I extend a very big thank you and I feel honoured to work with you. To those who came and offered their support, you have no idea how nice it was to see you and how grateful we all were for your presence, it was much appreciated. Other people like Sally Ridley, Daniel Hansen and Heather Sherman also made a big difference and their work behind the scenes was crucial to the success of this evening.

On behalf of everyone the biggest thank you goes to the team who worked so hard to make it possible, they truly did our school proud and showcased some of the fantastic talent we have here. They also bear testament to some of the strong links we have with other learning professionals and the scope to run further events for Primary, non-teaching staff, or subject specific is immense and extremely exciting.

Special thanks to Julia, Flora, Clara, Matt and Phil Wright for ensuring that things ran smoothly – you cannot underestimate the impact these people have had in making this event happen and how lucky we are to have them.

Please come to our next event and if you would like to join our group for the next informal gathering to continue our learning adventure you would be most welcome. I have left over wine if that helps convince you!

Little has as much impact in terms of professional development as working with and learning from your colleagues; whatever your professional role, and we have so little time and opportunity to do it. If nothing else I hope this encourages more dialogue and collaborative work between us all.

If you feel sorry that you missed out, then there are some flyers in the CR and details will be online soon, Material, power points and videos will be shared here – so put your email address in the follow box, which should appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and updates will be emailed to you.

  1. Had the pleasure of going along and thought it was a great event. Really interesting speakers, very well organised and really enjoyed it.
