The power of collaborative learning

Schoology: Facebook for Learning

Schoology is a website that allows you to post lesson content, multiple choice tests and collect student work. It’s free to use and really easy for you to sign up as a teacher and get you classes signed up. It’s kind of like doddle but more flexible. It’s kind of like Moodle but much easier to use. It’s like Facebook with a gradebook.

We have been using it in the Computing Department at Aldenham School since the start of year and have found it really useful when managing assessment of large numbers of pupils; differentiating content and distributing video resources such as screen casts to pupils.

A good guide to the features of Schoology can be seen below:

You simply need to sign up, create a course, add some assignments and then give the course access code to your pupils. All children in years 7-9 at Aldenham will be familiar with using Schoology through their computing lessons and will already have their own accounts.
